Dying of the Light, to me, seemed as if it were written by a completely different person. That isn' I can't believe I'm saying this, but this book was just awful.
I've spent quite some time now trying to understand how it is possible for such a large disparity amongst the work of a single author/5. The Dying of the Light had that same lovely prose and was filled with melodrama. The Dying of the Light’s prologue is exceptionally lurid with a strong southern gothic feel.

It is an early work, first published inand is not about swords or sorcery. Dying Light sees Lazarus resurrected once more, along with other familiar faces from the first book.
New "baddies" appear in this one and a story that unfolds at a reasonable pace until a downhill rush to the end where all becomes clear - again in a way that I hadn't s: "Dying of the Light" was George R.R. Martin's first novel, and it certainly shows.
